Cognac – Muscat grapes

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 ½ kg grapes (muscat grapes) ripe
  • 250 ml wine, red, dry
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 2 cloves
  • ½ lemon(s), untreated
  • 250 g cane sugar
  • ½ liter cognac or brandy

tastes great with game dishes, ice cream, pudding,… and with sparkling wine as an aperitif

Wash the grapes, remove the stems, and pat dry. Pour the red wine into a saucepan. Wash the lemon in hot water, brush it, peel it very thinly, and cut it into pieces. Add the two broken cinnamon sticks, cloves, and peel pieces to the red wine. Add the cane sugar and bring to a boil. Boil briskly for 5 minutes. Pour the liquid through a fine sieve and bring back to a boil without the spices. Add the grapes and let it steep for 5 minutes. Pour the liquid into clean glasses. Top up with cognac until the fruit is completely covered. Store in a cool, dark place. The fruit is always a welcome gift for friends.
