Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg apples
  • 1 large lemon(s)
  • 100 ml water
  • 2 tbsp, levelled sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Peel the apples, remove the cores, and cut the flesh into small pieces. Drizzle the apple pieces with lemon juice. Combine the water, sugar, and vanilla sugar in a tall saucepan. Add the apple pieces and bring to a boil. Simmer while stirring until the apple pieces are soft and can be mashed. Mash the apple pieces with a potato masher for a smooth apple compote, or purée them again with a hand blender for applesauce. Pour the applesauce into prepared jars. Then boil the jars in a pressure cooker at 90°C for 30 minutes.
