Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 250 g butter, soft
  • 200 g Harzer cheese, without music
  • 100 g cream cheese spread
  • 200 ml cream
  • 200 g crème fraîche
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • Caraway seeds

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 12 hours 20 minutes

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Meanwhile, cut the Harzer cheese into small cubes and add it. Then dissolve the processed cheese in it. Add the baking soda. Stir in the cream and bring everything to a boil. Finally, add the crème fraîche and bring everything to a boil again. Ladle the cooked cheese into small bowls and sprinkle with caraway seeds. Refrigerate overnight. Tip: Stir well, as it tends to stick! It tastes best on fresh black bread with caraway seeds. If you want to make a batch, you can also freeze the cooked cheese. This way, it will keep for about 3-4 months.
