a very tasty alternative to potato gratin
Wash the potatoes and boil them in heavily salted water with at least 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds, the peeled onion, and the peeled garlic cloves. Drain and let cool slightly, then peel and cut into approximately 3mm thick slices. Grease a baking dish with butter. Sprinkle with some of the breadcrumbs. Layer the potatoes and season each layer with salt and pepper. Mix the cream and crème fraîche and pour over the potatoes. Sprinkle with the remaining breadcrumbs. Bake in the oven at 180-200°C for approximately 25 minutes until golden brown. You can also sprinkle some cheese between the potatoes. It makes a delicious side dish to steaks, schnitzel, or baked fish fillets.
