Curd dumplings or quark dumplings

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 40 g margarine
  • 100 g semolina
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 250 g quark (cottage cheese)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar
  • some butter
  • 80 g breadcrumbs
  • n. B. sugar
  • e.g. powdered sugar (icing sugar)

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes

Melt the margarine and heat it. Add the semolina, salt, and vanilla sugar and mix well, then let it cool. Add the curd cheese and egg to the semolina mixture and mix well. Let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight). Then form the mixture into dumplings and place them in boiling, lightly salted water. Let it cook for at least half an hour. Then remove from the pan and roll them in a mixture of butter, sugar, and breadcrumbs. Serve garnished with powdered sugar. Tip: This goes well with plum compote.
