Curry sauce for currywurst

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 3 tsp curry powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp broth, granulated
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 250 ml cola
  • 250 ml orange juice
  • 1 apple
  • 400 ml tomato ketchup
  • 100 ml water

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Heat the paprika, curry, and chili in a deep saucepan to allow the flavors to develop. Then, gently sauté over medium heat with the tomato paste and a little oil. Deglaze with cola and orange juice and add the stock. Reduce the liquid by less than half. Then top up with ketchup and water (I use it to rinse out the ketchup bottle, for example). Grate the apple and add it. The sauce can now simmer on low heat for about 15 minutes.
