Currywurst of a different kind

Spread the love

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 3 large Bockwurst (large curry sausages)
  • 1 tbsp clarified butter
  • 1 bottle of ketchup
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg powder
  • 1 pinch(s) cinnamon powder
  • 1 pinch(s) paprika powder, smoked
  • ½ cup passion fruit juice (approx. 75 ml) or pineapple juice or orange juice
  • 1 tbsp, heaped herbs, Italian, dried
  • n. E. Chili sauce, depending on your spiciness tolerance

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 8 minutes; Total time approx. 13 minutes

Cut the sausages into slices about 1-2 cm thick. Melt the clarified butter in a pan over high heat. Wait until the fat is hot. Then add all the sausage slices to the pan and let them simmer for about 35 seconds. Brush the honey over the sausage slices. Add ¾ of the ketchup. Add the nutmeg, cinnamon, and paprika powder and let them simmer for about 10 seconds, then mix well. Add the passion fruit, pineapple, or orange juice (I prefer passion fruit juice). Finally, sprinkle the herbs on top and mix everything well again. Let it simmer for 5 minutes over low heat until the sauce wraps around the sausage slices. The spiciness can be adjusted to your taste.
