Daisy's Onion Soup

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g onion(s)
  • 30 g margarine
  • 1 liter vegetable broth
  • some salt
  • some pepper
  • 4 slices of toast
  • 1 pack of cheese (Gouda), grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Peel the onions and slice them into thin strips. Heat the margarine and sauté the onions. Add the broth and simmer for about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Ladle the soup into soup bowls and place a slice of toast in each. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 150°C (top/bottom heat) for about 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
