Dark Chocolate Orange Muffins

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 125 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 tbsp milk
  • 125 g butter
  • 150 g flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 50 g chocolate (dark orange chocolate)
  • possibly orange peel, grated
  • powdered sugar
  • orange juice
  • chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

for 9 muffins

Beat the sugar, vanilla sugar, and egg until fluffy. Then add the milk and butter (I melted the butter first, but this isn’t necessary). Combine the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl and then stir into the other ingredients. Chop the chocolate and mix it in with the orange zest, if desired. Pour the batter into about 9 prepared muffin tins. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for 20 minutes. Once done, let them cool briefly. If desired, decorate with icing made from orange juice and powdered sugar, along with chocolate sprinkles. The dark chocolate is bitter, but the orange and especially the icing balance it out wonderfully, so I recommend using it. Our twelve-year-old daughter made these fluffy, delicious muffins all by herself without a recipe.
