- 100 ml water, boiling
- 340 g butter, room temperature
- 400 g sugar
- 4 eggs, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 350 g flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 250 g butter, spreadable
- 150 g powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch of salt
- 250 g butter
- 80 g chocolate, dark
- 150 g powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch of salt
- 3 tbsp baking cocoa
Instructions
Working time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 20 minutes
Preparation of the batter: Mix the hot water with the cocoa in a separate bowl. Beat the butter in the mixing bowl for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy, then slowly add the sugar and beat for another 2 minutes. Gradually add the eggs while beating and add the vanilla extract. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt and sift. Mix the milk with the cocoa mixture in a separate bowl. Now alternately add the flour and cocoa mass to the mixing bowl, starting and ending with the flour. Pour the batter evenly into the 2 greased, floured, and lined baking pans. Bake at 175 degrees Celsius (top/bottom heat) for about 50 minutes (do the skewer test). Preparation of the vanilla frosting: Beat spreadable, room-temperature butter on high for 5 minutes until white and fluffy. Sift in the powdered sugar and salt and add the vanilla extract. Beat again, scrape down the sides of the mixture, and beat again. Preparation of the chocolate frosting: Melt the chocolate over a double boiler and let it cool slightly. Beat the room-temperature butter for 2-3 minutes until fluffy. Sift in the powdered sugar, salt, and cocoa powder and beat again, adding the vanilla extract. Chill the frosting for about 15 minutes, then add the cooled chocolate while beating. Halve the two layers and cut into four. Place the bottom layer on a cake board and soak with milk. Spread the frosting on top and repeat the process. Once all layers are stacked, freeze the cake for 20 minutes, then cover the outside with frosting and decorate as desired.
