Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 600 g matjes fillet(s)
- 1 apple, peeled, diced
- 1 onion(s), peeled, diced
- 3 gherkins, sliced
- 200 g sour cream
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise, well heaped
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustard, medium hot
- ½ tsp curry powder
- 3 juniper berries, crushed
- 1 bay leaf
- Sea salt and pepper, mixed, from the mill
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 20 minutes
Mix the ingredients, except for the herring, into the sauce. Fold in the herring pieces and season with salt and pepper. Let it simmer for about half a day.
