Djuvec Rice – Frustration-free

The perfect djuvec rice – frustration-free recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 piece Onion
  • 1 toe Garlic
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1,5 cups Meat or vegetable broth
  • 5 tbsp Ajvar
  • 1 Can Peas (drained weight 130 gr.) Or peas with carrots
  • 1 Cup Rice
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Parsley
  1. Peel the onion and dice finely. Peel the garlic clove. Drain the peas.
  2. Sauté the onions in a saucepan with a little oil, add the garlic and tomato paste and sauté briefly. Deglaze with the broth, add the ajvar and the vegetables, stir.
  3. When everything is boiling, sprinkle the rice. Lid on it! Set the stove very small (gas: smallest burner, smallest flame).
  4. Let the rice soak for about 20 minutes until it has absorbed the liquid. Stir once. – A bouquet of parsley looks good.
