Drying Blueberries: Instructions Without a Dehydrator

How to air dry blueberries

If you dry your blueberries in the air, you should pay attention to a rain-protected place.

  1. Wash the blueberries, discard any damaged berries and remove the stalks.
  2. Spread the berries over a large area on a baking tray lined with baking paper. You can also lay out paper towels on a table.
  3. The berries should dry for several days. To avoid mold, you should turn them over and over again.
  4. Once the berries have dried, you can store them in airtight packaging.

Dry blueberries in the oven

With this method, too, before you can start drying, you need to wash the blueberries, sort out damaged fruits and remove the stalks.

  1. Then lay out parchment paper on a baking sheet and spread the blueberries on it. Make sure there is enough space between the individual berries.
  2. Heat the oven to a maximum of 50 °C. In convection mode, you can also put more than one tray in the oven at the same time.
  3. In order for the moisture to escape from the berries, you need to clamp a cooking spoon in the oven door.
  4. Then leave the berries in the oven for about 3-5 hours, depending on their size.
  5. After the blueberries have cooled, you can store them in airtight plastic containers or screw-top jars.
