Ingredients for 5 servings:
- e.g. olive oil
- 2 onions, diced
- 250 g bacon, diced
- 1 garlic clove(s) or as needed, finely chopped
- 1 kg minced meat
- 2 tsp oregano
- 2 tsp marjoram
- 4 tsp paprika powder
- 2 tsp thyme
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- e.g. brandy or Metaxa
- 2 cans tomatoes, chopped
- 1 liter vegetable broth
- 1 kg zucchini
- 1 kg potatoes

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes
Preparation on the gas grill
Pour oil into a hot Dutch oven (size ft9) and cover the bottom with it. Then fry the onions, bacon, and garlic until everything is translucent and the bacon has released its fat. Add the ground meat in batches and fry until crumbly, until all the ground meat is in the pot. Add the spices and herbs (fresh ones are fine, if you have them) and mix everything well. Do not use salt! Add tomato paste and fry everything. Deglaze with brandy or Metaxa, then add the tomatoes and stock. Meanwhile, clean the zucchini and potatoes and cut them into very large pieces or slices (approx. 1 cm thick or 2 x 4 cm). Add them and mix everything well. Simmer with the lid closed over low heat (approx. 150°C) for 1 – 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally.
