Eaten Too Many Eggs: These Are the Consequences

If you regularly eat too many eggs, this can have consequences for your health. The cholesterol contained in the egg can lead to deposits in the blood vessels and cardiovascular diseases.

These are the consequences of eating too many eggs

If you want to eat a lot of protein, you can use eggs. Whether boiled, scrambled or fried – egg dishes are on the menu almost every day, especially for athletes. However, too many eggs can be harmful to the body.

  • For a long time, the German Society for Nutrition recommended eating a maximum of three eggs per week. It is now said that as long as you eat a balanced diet and lead a healthy lifestyle, you can eat one egg a day, which is seven eggs a week.
  • However, if you eat several eggs a day, this can have long-term consequences. Because the cholesterol contained in the egg can cause deposits in the blood vessels. These clog the arteries and, in the worst case, lead to what is known as arteriosclerosis.
  • Arteriosclerosis is hardening of the arteries, which greatly increases the risk of a heart attack, stroke or circulatory disorders.
  • Especially people who are already struggling with previous illnesses such as diabetes or cardiovascular problems as well as being overweight could damage their health by eating too many eggs.
  • If you ‘ve eaten a lot of eggs over a short period of time, it shouldn’t have any further effects. Hard-boiled eggs may cause constipation.
  • If you otherwise eat a rather low-cholesterol and balanced diet, it is not reprehensible if you occasionally enjoy one more egg. But in the long run, you should keep an eye on your cholesterol levels.
