Elderberry cook

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg elderberries (elderberries)
  • ½ liter of water
  • 1 apple, peeled, sliced
  • 1 pear(s), peeled, sliced
  • 12 plums, peeled, quartered
  • 250 g sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 4 tsp cornstarch
  • ½ cup(s) cream

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

First of all: the plums have to be peeled so that the skin doesn’t overcook. Boil the elderberry with half the water and sugar, then add the fruit slices. Keep the lid on! After 10 minutes, add all the remaining ingredients except the cornstarch and cream to the pot. You will have to stir frequently at this point. After 20 minutes of cooking, add a dough made from 4 tablespoons of cornstarch and a little water to ensure everything is nice and cohesive. Now don’t put the wooden spoon down and don’t let anything burn. The elderberry stew will be ready in half an hour. Now stir in the cream, but don’t let it boil again. I eat the elderberry stew warm, but it’s also delicious cold.
