a summery liqueur with elderflowers, quick to make and simply delicious

Preparation: 1. First, collect the elderflowers and check them for aphids or other insects as they are picked. 2. Next, wash the oranges and lemons in hot water and then cut them into thin slices. Weigh out the sugar and set it aside. 3. Put the elderflowers in a glass and then cover with 2-3 orange and lemon slices each. Now add a little more sugar and layer everything again. Continue this layering process until the glass is full and the sugar is used up. 4. Finally, pour in the vodka and let it steep for 6-8 weeks. Then filter everything through a cheesecloth or cloth diaper (e.g. from DM) and pour into screw-top jars. The liqueur will keep for at least 1 year. Note: Do not wash the elderflowers, as this will result in the loss of too much pollen.
