Farmer Donuts

The perfect farmer donuts recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 500 g Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0,25 l Milk lukewarm
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 0,5 Pc. Squeezed lemons
  • 1 shot Rum
  • 50 g Melted butter
  • 2 Pc. Eggs
  • 40 g Yeast cubes
  1. Mix flour with salt.
  2. Heat the milk. Dissolve the yeast, sugar and vanilla sugar in the milk. Add to the flour.
  3. Knead in the lemon juice, rum, butter and eggs. The dough should come off the edge easily and be supple – add a little more flour if necessary.
  4. Cover and let rise for about half an hour.
  5. Shape the dough into small dumplings and cover again for about 20 minutes. let go.
  6. Heat the oil. Pull the dumplings from the middle to the edge so that the dough is wafer-thin in the middle and you can almost see through it. Fold the edge in a little to make it thicker.
  7. Bake donuts one after the other in the oil briefly on both sides until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Enjoy with powdered sugar and applesauce or spicy with sauerkraut!
