Spread the love

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 500 g potatoes
  • 500 g minced meat
  • 2 bell peppers, yellow or green
  • 2 onions
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 800 g kidney beans or 1 can kidney beans and 1 can chili beans
  • 400 g pizza sauce with oregano
  • 400 g tomato sauce with herbs
  • 340 g pineapple pieces
  • 200 g whipped cream or crème fraîche
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 6 gherkins
  • 300 g mushrooms
  • 100 ml whiskey
  • 2 tbsp pizza seasoning
  • 2 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder, hot
  • 2 tbsp basil
  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 2 tbsp thyme
  • 2 tbsp oregano
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Cut the potatoes into chunks and cook in a small saucepan for about 15 minutes. Brown the ground beef in a very large saucepan. Finely chop the onions and garlic and add them with the tomato paste; they should be translucent. Then add both tomato sauces, the cream or crème fraîche, and season everything. I basically lightly coat the surface with all of the specified spices. Just be careful with the chili and hot paprika powder, depending on how spicy you want it, and only use a pinch of salt. Stir and add the pineapple chunks and their juice. Rinse the beans and add them. If using chili beans, add the entire contents. Chop the gherkins and add them along with the potatoes, mushrooms, and whiskey. Stir everything well. Cover and simmer on low heat for 20 to 25 minutes. I’ve become addicted to it because it has everything: sweetness, heat, and acidity.
