Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 slices of bread (brown bread)
  • 8 slices of ham
  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 1 tomato(s), cut into 8 slices
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 8 eggs
  • 8 slices of cheese (Edam)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Peel the onion and slice it into thin rings. Top each slice of black bread (or stale bread) with a slice of ham, bacon, tomato, onion, and cheese, in order. Bake in a preheated oven at approximately 200°C on the middle rack until the cheese has a light brown crust. Meanwhile, fry 8 fried eggs. Place the bread on two boards and place two fried eggs on each. Serve with onion ragout (a mix of finely chopped onion, mustard, ketchup, and peppercorns) and a green salad.
