Fig chutney

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg fig(s), fresh
  • 3 onions
  • 200 g sugar
  • 400 ml wine vinegar or the juice of one lemon
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp salt
  • e.g. chili powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Slice the fresh figs and dice the onions. Simmer all ingredients in an uncovered saucepan over medium heat until the liquid thickens slightly. Stir frequently to prevent burning. Then pour the chutney into clean jars. I like to serve this chutney with chicken or barbecue. Instead of coriander, you can also use cloves, star anise, or Italian herbs like thyme and rosemary.
