Mushrooms with honey sauce

Remove the stems from the figs. Let them sit in the port and red wine mixture with the nuts (set aside 6 halves) overnight or longer. The next day, add the orange juice and honey and simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes. Stir gently. Divide the cooled mixture into small bowls, top with whipped cream (preferably with a dash of vanilla), and garnish with a walnut kernel. It’s also delicious on vanilla ice cream.
