Figs in orange and port wine sauce

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 4 figs, purple or green
  • 1 tbsp, heaped butter, approx. 20 g
  • 1 tbsp, heaped sugar
  • 1 orange(s), including the juice, approx. 100 ml
  • 100 ml port wine
  • 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Peel the figs thinly or peel off the skins. Melt the butter and sugar in a small saucepan and let it caramelize slightly, but not too dark. Deglaze with port wine and freshly squeezed orange juice. Add the figs to the sauce, turning frequently, and simmer gently for about 15 minutes. Serve with some vanilla ice cream and serve immediately.
