Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 jars of fish (Bismarck herring)
  • 4 cups of sweet cream, 200 g each
  • 3 large carrots
  • 4 onions
  • 6 m.-large cucumber(s) (delicatessen cucumbers)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Total time approx. 12 hours 30 minutes

Drain the herring and reserve the broth. Place the fish in a bowl. Peel the carrots and slice them thinly. Peel the onion and slice them into rings. Thinly slice the gherkins. Add all the vegetables to the fish. Whisk the cream lightly and add the reserved broth, whisking continuously. Pour everything over the fish and vegetables. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator overnight. Serve with boiled potatoes.
