Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g butter, soft
  • 5 eggs
  • 110 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 500 g flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 500 ml buttermilk
  • Fat for the waffle iron

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 6 hours 40 minutes; Total time approx. 7 hours 15 minutes

Beat the eggs in a large bowl until light yellow and fluffy. Melt the butter and let it cool slightly, then add the melted butter to the eggs and mix well. Add the sugar and vanilla sugar and continue beating until the mixture is light and fluffy. Add the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt. Slowly add the buttermilk and stir continuously until a smooth batter forms. Be careful not to overmix to avoid a dense texture. Let the batter rest for about 15-30 minutes to allow it to set. Preheat the waffle iron and lightly grease it. Pour the batter into the waffle iron in batches and bake until the waffles are golden brown. Serve the finished waffles with powdered sugar, fruit, syrup or other toppings as desired and enjoy. This recipe makes about 27 waffles.
