Freezing horseradish: What to consider when preserving

Horseradish can be frozen easily too. The horseradish will keep for a good six months with all the types we suggest. However, the taste can suffer a little.

  • Leave the horseradish root in one piece and place it in a freezer container. This is where the freezer bag comes in handy. Wash the horseradish well beforehand and dry it thoroughly. It is best to use a brush to clean as the soil can become stubborn on horseradish.
  • Another variant is suitable for a fairly large root. After washing, cut the horseradish into pieces that you will later use to shape your servings. Freeze these pieces in freezer bags and label them.
  • Another variation is to grate the horseradish. So you can freeze it well dosed. This can also be done in very small amounts if you want to use the finely ground horseradish as a spice. If you decide to freeze by grating, add a little lemon juice to the horseradish mixture.
