Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 vegetable onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp, heaped flour
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • 1 pinch(s) paprika powder
  • 2 liters of rapeseed oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

seasoned with paprika, sugar and salt, vegetarian

Peel the onion and cut into approximately 3 mm thick slices. Sprinkle with salt, sugar, and paprika in a bowl, mix, and then coat with flour. Fry in a deep fryer (if available) or in a large pot at approximately 150 degrees Celsius until golden brown. Then drain and dry on a plate or baking sheet lined with kitchen paper. Store uncovered in a dry place. The drier the fried onions are stored, the longer they will keep. Since a relatively large amount of oil is needed, it is recommended to prepare a little more in advance. The fried onions go well with hunter’s schnitzel, onion roast beef, lumberjack steak, or simply as a snack with beer.
