Fried potato casserole with schnitzel

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 500 g jacket potatoes, sliced
  • 20 g butter
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 20 g diced ham
  • salt and pepper
  • 300 g pork schnitzel, thinly sliced
  • 20 g butter
  • 120 g crème fraîche
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 60 g Gouda, grated
  • 2 tbsp chives, chopped
  • 1 tbsp parsley, chopped
  • Paprika powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Preheat oven to 200°C fan/convection oven. Heat butter in a pan and fry the potato slices until golden brown. Add the diced onion and ham and fry lightly. Season everything with salt, pepper, and paprika. Transfer the potatoes to a baking dish. Heat butter again in the pan and fry the schnitzels over medium heat for a good 3 minutes on each side until cooked through. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and place on top of the fried potatoes. Place the crème fraîche and milk in a bowl and mix until smooth. Add the Gouda cheese and mix in. Season this mixture with salt, pepper, and paprika, then stir in the parsley and chives. Pour the cream mixture over the schnitzels and spread evenly. Place in the hot oven and bake on the middle rack for 10-15 minutes.
