Garlic bread Lithuanian style

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g bread(s), dark, strong, e.g. rye bread, farmer’s bread
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Salt
  • n. B. Oil for frying
  • possibly cheese (Gouda)
  • possibly mayonnaise

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Cut the bread into small pieces (like French fries), fry them in hot oil until crispy on all sides (bread absorbs a lot of oil!). Place in a bowl and sprinkle with salt. Crush the garlic cloves and add them to the hot bread. Mix everything together (you can also use garlic powder if you like). You can serve the bread with a cheese and mayonnaise sauce (grate Gouda cheese, mix it with mayonnaise, and microwave briefly, then pour the sauce over the hot bread). It tastes amazing! It’s an irreplaceable snack with beer and wine.
