Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 100 g butter, soft
  • 60 g sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon peel, untreated, grated
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 2 m.-sized eggs
  • 1 tbsp rum
  • 100 g cornstarch
  • 250 g flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 liter of oil (sunflower oil)
  • 1 packet of powdered sugar

Working time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

makes about 45 pieces

Cream the butter with sugar, lemon zest, and salt until fluffy. Beat in the eggs and rum one at a time. Combine the cornstarch and flour with the baking powder, sift through, and stir into the batter a spoonful at a time. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or deep frying pan. Using 2 tablespoons of the batter, form small balls and fry in the hot oil until golden brown. Drain the Mutzenmandeln on kitchen paper and dust with powdered sugar while still hot.
