Ginger-basil lemonade

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1,500 ml water
  • 30 g fresh ginger
  • 10 g basil, fresh
  • 100 g sugar
  • 60 ml lemon juice, freshly squeezed

Combine the sugar and 250 ml water in a small saucepan and add the finely grated ginger. Heat until steam rises gently, then let it steep, covered, for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, blend the basil and 250 ml water in a blender for about 1 minute. Filter the ginger liquid through a paper tea bag, add the lemon juice and 1 liter of cold water. Finally, filter the basil liquid through a paper tea bag and add it to the rest. Tastes best served ice-cold. Another tip for those calorie-conscious: simply replace 50 g of sugar with the appropriate amount of sweetener.
