Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 750 g ginger
  • 6 orange(s), untreated
  • 3 lemons, untreated
  • 2 kg sugar
  • 2 liters of water
  • 2 tbsp citric acid

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours 5 minutes; Total time approx. 1 day 2 hours 35 minutes

Wash the ginger thoroughly and chop finely. Quarter 2 oranges and 1 lemon and simmer gently with 2 liters of water for 2 hours. After 2 hours, remove the orange and lemon segments and let the ginger broth stand overnight. The next day, strain through a fine sieve. Juice the remaining oranges and lemons and add to the ginger broth, making 2 liters. Add 2 kg of sugar with the citric acid and boil for 5 minutes. Bottle and seal tightly.
