Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 3 large onions, cut into strips
  • 6 tbsp olive oil or sunflower oil
  • 3 bell pepper(s), red, cut into strips
  • 500 g sausage (e.g. hunting sausage, bockwurst, ham, salami), trimmings thereof
  • 1 ½ liters of broth
  • Tomato ketchup
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Spice grains
  • 7 gherkins
  • Tomato paste for thickening
  • Peppercorns – grains

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Saxon recipe

Slice the onions and bell peppers into strips. Finely chop the gherkins. Heat the onion strips in a pan with a little oil. Add the bell pepper strips and chopped sausage links. Pour in the broth. Thicken with tomato ketchup and tomato paste to taste. Now add the bay leaves, spices, and peppercorns. Finally, add the chopped gherkins. Simmer everything over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes. Serve hot.
