Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 rolls, stale
  • 500 ml milk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 pinch of baking powder
  • 1 egg(s)
  • n. B. Flour

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 25 minutes

Soak the rolls in milk for about 1 hour. Then mix with a fork until a paste forms. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Add enough flour so that the fork can stand upright in the dough. This will reach the right consistency. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop the dough into the boiling water in batches, preferably with a large spoon. When the dumplings start to float after about 10-15 minutes, they can be removed and served with something like applesauce or morello cherries.
