Grapefruit with cinnamon sugar crust

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 large grapefruit(s), well chilled
  • 80 g brown sugar
  • 25 g butter
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 minutes; Total time approx. 17 minutes

Turn on the oven’s broiler and halve the grapefruits. If they aren’t standing upright, use a knife to cut off some of the rind at the bottom. Use a very sharp knife to cut the flesh away from the skins, but leave it inside the fruit. Place the halves in a suitable baking dish. If they’re still a bit uneven, you can place some aluminum foil underneath them. Melt the butter and sugar in a small saucepan and add the cinnamon. Spread this mixture evenly over the grapefruit halves. Spread evenly and place in the oven. Place under the broiler, if possible, 10-11 cm apart, for about 2-3 minutes. The topping should be bubbling and have bubbles. Check them to make sure they don’t overcook. Remove from the oven and serve immediately. If desired, garnish with a few mint leaves. The grapefruits should be thoroughly chilled before serving.
