Gratinated Cheese Spaetzle

The perfect gratinated cheese spaetzle recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 250 g Flour
  • 3 Eggs
  • 100 g Grated Gouda
  • 100 g Finely grated mountain cheese
  • 100 g Cream 10% fat
  • 1 tbsp Butter
  • Pepper
  • Finely chopped parsley
  • 0,5 teaspoon Salt
  • 50 ml Water
  1. Bring 2L of salted water to the boil. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees upper and lower heat and 140 degrees circulating air. Mix the Gouda and mountain cheese. Mix the flour and salt in a bowl. Add the eggs and lukewarm water and mix with a wooden spoon to form a smooth dough. Beat vigorously until the dough starts to bubble. Put the dough into a spaetzle press and press into the hot water. Bring to the boil briefly and lift out with a slotted spoon. Layer the spaetzle and cheese alternately in a greased casserole dish. The top layer should be cheese. Season the cream with a little salt and pepper and pour over the cheese spaetzle. Bake in the oven on the middle rack for about 30 minutes. To serve, sprinkle with the parsley .
