Gratinated Mexican Mince Steaks
The perfect gratinated mexican mince steaks recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- Oil
- 3 Garlic cloves
- 2 Red chili peppers
- 1 Spring onion
- 3 tbsp Tomato paste
- 2 Can Tomatoes
- 0,5 bunch Finely chopped coriander
- 2 tsp Cumin
- 1 shot Lime juice
- 2 tsp Sugar brown
- Cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper
- 1 Bun old
- 25 g Tortilla chips
- 600 g Mixed minced meat
- 100 g Grated cheese
- Garlic pepper
- 1 Chilli pepper green
- Heat the oil in a saucepan. Turn the garlic cloves in the oil until they are almost brown, then take them out of the pot and discard. Core and finely chop a red chilli pepper. Chop the spring onion as well.
- Briefly sauté the spring onion and chilli pepper together with 2 tablespoons of tomato paste. Then add tomatoes, coriander, cumin, lime juice and sugar. Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Then coarsely puree the whole thing with the blender and season the finished result with cayenne pepper and salt.
- Let the roll soak for about half an hour. In the meantime, grind the tortilla chips in the food processor or core a red chilli pepper and chop it finely.
- Squeeze out the soaked roll vigorously and put it together with the ground tortilla chips, chilli pepper, 1 tbsp tomato paste and minced meat in a bowl; season with salt and pepper. Now knead and mix until no individual parts of the roll can be seen.
- Make 8 balls of roughly the same size from the dough and then shape them into minced steaks. Spread about a third of the cheese on four of them. Place the other four steaks on top and press the edges together well.
- Heat oil in a pan. If possible, fry the steaks on the edges first (a bit tricky) so that no cheese leaks out. Then fry brown all over, of course.
- Put the tomato sauce in a baking dish and place the fried mince steak in it. Whisk a little oil in a cup with garlic pepper and brush the steaks with it. Cut the green chilli pepper into rings and place on the minced meat.
- Finally, distribute the remaining cheese on the steaks and bake at 200 degrees in the preheated oven for about 25 – 30 minutes. Remove the steaks from the baking dish. Mix the tomato sauce once with the cheese that has run down and the roast juice that has leaked out and serve with a few tortilla chips as a side dish with the steaks.
- I made the tomato sauce the day before, so unfortunately there are no pictures of it. If you want, you can add some corn to the tomato sauce, but then you would have to serve rice as a side dish instead of tortilla chips.
