Gratinated mozzarella and tomatoes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 m.-sized tomatoes
  • 50 g Parmesan or Pecorino
  • 50 g butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, or more
  • 1 pack of basil (frozen)
  • 250g mozzarella
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Halve the tomatoes, remove the stems, and hollow out the cores. Grate the pecorino and peel the garlic cloves. Combine the pecorino and butter in a blender, then press in the garlic cloves. Dice the mozzarella, then add it to the blender with the basil. Using the blade attachment, grind it into a thick paste. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Fill the tomato halves with the paste and place them in a baking dish. Bake at 180°C for about 20 minutes. Serve with Italian dishes or fresh romaine lettuce.
