Great BBQ sauce with beer

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 tbsp peanut oil
  • 1 small onion(s), finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove(s), crushed
  • 2 tsp ginger, fresh, peeled, crushed
  • ½ tsp chili powder, hot, red
  • 250 g ketchup
  • 80 ml beer
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice, fresh
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard, hot
  • ½ tsp black pepper, freshly ground

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

quick to make, fantastic as a marinade for spare ribs

Heat the peanut oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, ginger, and chili powder; stir with a wooden spoon and heat for 5 minutes, until the onions and garlic are lightly browned. Stir in the ketchup, beer, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, red wine vinegar, brown sugar, honey, soy sauce, mustard, and pepper; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer gently for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and has a rich flavor. Remove the barbecue sauce from the heat. Bottle the sauce and refrigerate. It’s fantastic as a marinade for spare ribs.
