Greek bean gratin

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 600 g runner beans
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 400 g tomatoes, peeled
  • 500 g minced beef
  • salt and pepper
  • Cumin powder
  • 60 g butter
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 150 g Emmental cheese, grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Prepare the beans and cook in salted water until almost tender. Dice the onions and garlic. Heat the oil in a large pan and sauté the diced onions and garlic. Add the minced meat and brown them. Add the chopped tomatoes and fry for 6-8 minutes, turning frequently. Season with salt, pepper, and cumin. Grease a gratin dish with butter. Add half of the beans, then add the minced meat and tomato mixture, then more beans on top. Mix the yogurt with the cheese and season with salt and pepper. Spread the mixture over the beans. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for about 30 minutes.
