Greek Kritharaki minced meat casserole à la Didi

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 340 g minced meat, mixed
  • 170 g Kritharaki (rice-shaped noodles)
  • 1 m.-large shallot(s)
  • 500 ml meat broth
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 200 ml cream
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp thyme, shredded
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 50 g Gouda, grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Fry the minced meat in oil until browned and crumbly, season with salt and pepper, and then remove from the pan. In the same pan, sauté the onions and tomato paste, deglaze with the broth, and season with salt, thyme, and pepper. Layer the kritharaki noodles and the minced meat in a baking dish, starting with the pasta and ending with the pasta. Pour the tomato sauce over the pasta. Pour the cream evenly over the top. Finally, sprinkle with grated Gouda cheese. Bake at 200°C (top/bottom heat) for 45 minutes.
