Grilled bratwurst with malt beer onions

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 onions
  • 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • ½ tsp sweet paprika powder
  • ½ tsp paprika powder, hot
  • 250 ml malt beer
  • salt and pepper
  • 50 g butter
  • 4 grilled sausages
  • 4 rolls

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Peel the onions, halve them, and cut them into strips. Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the onions for 5-6 minutes. The onions should take on some color. Add the paprika to the pan, stir briefly, and deglaze with the malt beer. Sauté the onions until the liquid has almost evaporated. Season the braised beer onions with salt and pepper and stir the butter in small pieces into the onions. Prepare the braised sausages on the grill. Cut the buns open lengthwise, but do not cut all the way through, and place the sausages inside like a hot dog. Sprinkle the braised onions over the sausages and serve.
