Grilling Seitan – Here’s How

You have to keep this in mind when grilling and marinating seitan

Along with tofu, seitan is a popular meat substitute. It is also called “wheat meat” and consists of wheat protein. You can use seitan in many different ways. For example grilled food.

  • You can find seitan in the supermarket or online. You can buy it as a ready-marinated steak or as a powder that you can mix yourself.
  • If the finished product offered is already marinated, all you have to do is put it on the grill. However, you must first process the powder into seitan.
  • This has the advantage that you can mix spices into the raw mixture to customize the taste and consistency.
  • Bring the raw mass into the desired shape. Depending on your needs, for example, as cubes for a skewer or sliced as a steak.
  • You can marinate seitan like you would marinate grilled meat. Any marinade is possible depending on your taste.
  • Place the seitan in the finished marinade and let it soak in the fridge for at least an hour or better overnight.
  • Treat the wheat meat like normal grilled food. You can brush it with fresh marinade from time to time during the grilling process.
  • Attention: Seitan contains a lot of gluten and is therefore not suitable for people with gluten intolerance.
