homemade gummy bears, very simple recipe
Soak the gelatin, squeeze out excess water, and carefully dissolve it over low heat. Heat the juice, sugar, and lemon juice briefly in a saucepan over low heat, then remove from the heat. Add the food coloring, syrup, and gelatin mixture, mix well, and let cool slightly. Pour the mixture into silicone molds (ice cube trays work particularly well!) and let it set for a few hours. It’s best to make the gummy bears the day before. After about 2 hours, they should be hardened enough to be carefully removed from the mold. To be on the safe side, do the finger test. If the gummy bears are still too sticky, leave them in the mold, otherwise they will break when removed. To remove them, carefully pull the edge of the gummy bears from the mold toward the center to allow air to escape. Press the mold down from below and gently pull on the gummy bears. They are usually sturdy enough that this won’t break them. Variation: I made the gummy bears as a birthday present. Instead of juice, I used cider and poured little clover leaves into the gummy bears. They looked great and were delicious.
