Greek culinary delights at home

Brown the gyros, then place them in a baking dish and pour the tomatoes over them. Heat the water and add the granulated broth. Shake the flour with a little water, add it to the broth, and mix well. Remove from the heat and stir in the Metaxa and sour cream. Pour this over the meat, sprinkle with the grated cheese, and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C – 200°C (convection/fan oven) for about 20 – 30 minutes. Tip: If you don’t have any Metaxa on hand, you can leave it out – the dish will still be delicious. The cheese can also be omitted, making a regular gyro dish. Serve with French fries, rice, or a Greek salad.
