Gyros with Metaxa sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g meat (gyro meat)
  • 1 cup crème fraîche with herbs
  • 1 cup of cream
  • some spice mix (gyros spice)
  • some cheese for topping
  • 1 onion(s), diced
  • some Metaxa
  • some olive oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 5 minutes

Season the gyro meat with the gyro seasoning. Then fry it in the oil. A little later, add the onion. Once the meat is browned, deglaze with the Metaxa. Add the crème fraîche and cream and bring to a boil briefly. Then transfer it to a baking dish and sprinkle with the cheese. Bake for about 15 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit), until the cheese has melted and taken on a nice brown color. It’s very quick and delicious! Fries go really well with this dish.
