Gyros – casserole special

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 kg meat (gyros), fresh (especially tasty with poultry)
  • 1 small jar of pepperoncini
  • 2 bell peppers, red and green
  • 1 can of tomatoes, peeled or pieces, alternatively tomato paste
  • 500 g cheese, grated
  • 500 g feta cheese
  • 20 ml Metaxa

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Brown the meat in a pan. Add the chopped chili peppers and bell peppers. Simmer for about 10 minutes, then add the can of tomatoes. Crumble the feta and stir in. Now add the Metaxa and mix well. Place in the oven preheated to 180°C (350°F) and bake for about 15-20 minutes. Then sprinkle with the grated cheese and bake for another 15 minutes at about 160°C (320°F). Serve with tzatziki, fresh baguette or fries, and a green salad.
