Hair Styling: Gel, Varnish & Co

Who is gel suitable for, does foam really conjure up volume and what is the difference between lacquer and spray? We clarify the most important questions about the most popular hair styling products. Your hairstyle will always sit perfectly in the future.

For easy hair styling: hairspray

Hairspray wraps itself around your hair like a fine net and fixes every hairstyle. But the product can do more than just strengthen. The styling aid is often enriched with nourishing ingredients such as provitamin B5 or aloe vera. With the natural power substances, your hair looks healthy and shiny after use.

Who it’s good for: Hairspray is recommended for all hair types, lengths, and hairstyles. Our styling tip: Use this product to quickly give fine and thin hair volume. Simply spray overhead into the roots and you’re done.

Good to know: Hairspray should also fix. But: The product is much stronger and therefore popular for strong shaping when styling.

The volume dispenser: hair mousse

Hair mousse is usually applied to towel-dried hair. It provides more volume and fullness when blow-drying or air-drying and creates a completely natural result when styling your hair. At the same time, the foam adds texture. The hair can therefore be shaped better.

Who it is suitable for: Every hair type and every length benefits from this invisible volume boost. Especially fine and thin hair is happy about the extra fullness.

Good to know: Hair foam usually contains nourishing active ingredients such as natural oils and is therefore also used for hair care.

For shine and strength: hair gel

With a dab of hair gel, you can ensure stand, shine and hold when styling your hair. However, since the product hardens, unlike wax, the result is not flexible. So hairstyles treated with gel stay in exactly the same shape all day long.

Who it’s for: Hair gel works best on normal, dry, and curly hair and is used for any length and haircut. It is particularly popular for the so-called sleek look, i.e. an extremely smooth look. Alternatively, accentuate and fix individual strands with the product.

Good to know: If possible, do not use hair gel and hairspray together if you have dandruff – the combination can irritate the scalp. Also, read what helps against dandruff.

Simply shiny: hair styling with hair wax

Hair wax gives hold, shine, and defines. The result is a casual hairstyle that combines stability with flexibility.

Who it is suitable for: Hair wax is ideal for normal, dry, and curly hair and is mainly used for styling short hairstyles. These looks need a lot of structure. In long hair, you tend to accentuate individual strands with hair wax.
Good to know: You can restyle hair that has been styled with hair wax at any time as required.
