Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 170 ml water, warm
  • 1 tbsp dry yeast
  • 40 g butter
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 435 g flour
  • 40 g sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg white

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 25 minutes

Burger Buns, recipe from the USA

Place the dried yeast, butter, egg, sugar, salt, and flour in a bowl. Slowly add the water, starting with just 150ml, then add the rest if needed. You may not need all of the water, or you may need a little more than the specified amount. Cover the dough ball and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour. Place the dough on a floured surface and knead well to allow the air to escape. Form 8 equal-sized balls and place them slightly apart on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. The balls should have a smooth surface with no seams, otherwise they will tear during baking. Flatten the balls slightly with your hand, cover, and let rise for another hour. Mix the egg white with 1 tbsp of water and brush the dough pieces with it. Bake at 185°C (top/bottom heat) for 12-17 minutes, until lightly browned. Let cool on a wire rack and top with as desired.
