deep-fry squares
Put the flour in a bowl and make a well in the center. Mix the milk with the butter or margarine until dissolved. Crumble the yeast into the well, add a splash of the milk mixture, and mix with a spoonful of sugar. Cover the yeast milk with a little flour and let it rise for a few minutes. Then stir in the remaining ingredients until the dough easily pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Let the dough rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, until it has doubled in size. Knead the dough again and roll it out to about 1 cm thick. Cut the dough into small squares and cook in small batches in a pan of hot fat. Sprinkle the pastries with powdered sugar and enjoy!
